Serie A – Roma-Lazio

It’s exciting everytime when Roma and Lazio face each other at the Olimpico in the big derby of Rome. This is going to be the case once again on Sunday, when these two huge rivals will meet each other in a game from the 21th round of the Serie A.

Roma approach this game from 4th place in the standings. The Wolves have won 38 points so far in the league, winning 11 of their 20 games played so far. This is not bad as it allows Roma to be in the Top 4, but we are sure that Paulo Fonseca’s team could do even better. Let’s see if they can prove it on Sunday.

Last week Roma won again after suffering two consecutive defeats. The capital club visited Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris and went home with an easy 3-1 win. Genoa’s Davide Biraschi scored himself an own goal, while Cengiz Under and Edin Dzeko scored for Roma.

Roma are facing Lazio in a really historical moment for the Biancocelesti. Lazio have done something amazing so far, because they are currently in a run of 11 consecutive wins in the Serie A. This extraordinary performance allowed Simone Inzaghi’s team to occupy the third place and move to just two points behind the second Inter Milan. Lazio even have a game in hand, which makes their position in the table even more impressive.

In the previous round Lazio hosted Sampdoria at the Olimpico and entered “beast mode”, crushing Claudio Ranieri’s boys with 5-1. The Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile scored a hattrick, while Caicedo and Bastos also scored. Immobile is currently leading the Serie A goalscoring chart with 23 goals scored so far. There’s no better striker in the league than him at the moment.

Can Lazio continue with their amazing run and beat Roma for a 12th consecutive win? You can be sure that the fans want this to happen. But let’s see if Roma can oppose them.
