Premier League – Southampton-Manchester City
Southampton faces Manchester City at the St. Mary’s in a match from the 14th round of the Premier League. Let’s see what’s going on with these two teams before their meeting on Saturday.
Southampton are having an incredible season in the Premier League so far. Probably it’s difficult to believe it, but right now Ralph Hassenhuttl’s team is third in the standings with 24 points won. The Saints are ahead of big teams such as Leicester City, Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City. They are doing a very good job so far.
In their last game Southampton made a third draw for the season. The club faced Arsenal at the Emirates and went home with a point after a 1-1 draw. Arsenal’s ex-striker Theo Walcott opened the score, but Aubameyang equalised for the Gunners after the halftime break. The manager Ralph Hassenhuttl picked Redmond and Djenepo for the bench, but it didn’t lead to the three points.
Manchester City will be looking for the win here after a failure in their last match. Pep Guardiola’s boys only won a point after a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad. For a club which is fighting for the title losing points against W.B.A. at home is just unacceptable. Guardiola admitted this after the game as well.
Ilkay Gundogan scored for Man City against W.B.A., but the Portuguese centre-back Ruben Dias scored himself an own goal two minutes before the halftime. In the second half City tried to raise the tempo in attack, but West Bromwich defended well and didn’t concede.
That’s our preview for the Premier League game between Southampton and Manchester City at the St. Mary’s on Saturday. It sounds surprising, but Southampton are having a better season than Man City so far. Let’s see if they can hurt the Cityzens in this one.
