Premier League – Newcastle United-Chelsea
We are heading to the St. James’ Park where Newcastle United will host Chelsea in a game from the 9th round of the Premier League. Let’s preview it right now.
Newcastle United approach the 9th round from 13th place in the Premier League standings. The Magpies are having 11 won points so far and a record of three wins, two draws and three defeats. They have won just one of their last four matches in the league, though.
Before the international break Newcastle conceded a third defeat from the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign. Steve Bruce’s boys visited Southampton, but suffered a 0-2 defeat a the St. Mary’s. It was not much of a surprising result, though – Southampton are in a great shape at the moment and they are currently 4th in the league.
Chelsea are in a good shape lately. Frank Lampard’s team is unbeaten in its last five matches and they have won three of them. Right now the Blues are 5th in the standings with 15 points – just 3 points behind the current leader Leicester City.
Before the break Chelsea won for a 4th time in the league. The Londoners hosted Sheffield United at the Stamford Bridge and crushed the Blades for a 4-1 win. The visitors actually opened the score, but until the halftime break Chelsea already have turned it around with goals from Tammy Abraham and Ben Chilwell. In the second half Thiago Silva and Timo Werner finished the job for Chelsea.
That’s our preview for the Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Chelsea at the St. James’ Park on Saturday. Chelsea might be the favourite here, but it won’t be as easy for them as it seems. Newcastle are usually pretty tough at home, so they won’t make it easy for Frank Lampard’s boys. That’s for sure.
