Premier League – Manchester United-West Ham United
Manchester United hosts West Ham United at the Old Trafford in a match from the 37th round of the Premier League.
On Sunday Manchester United suffered a huge dissapointment and got eliminated from the FA Cup 1/2-finals. They don’t have time to feel sorry, though – they still must win their place in the Top 4 and qualify for the next edition of the Champions League.
At this moment the Red Devils are 5th in the Premier League with 62 points. They are one point behind the third Chelsea and with the same amount of points as the 4th Leicester City. As you can see, it’s going to be a tight race for the Top 4 in the last two rounds.
On Sunday Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had hopes to reach the FA Cup final, but it didn’t go according to the plan. United face Chelsea at the Wembley and suffered a 1-3 defeat. Bruno Fernandes’ goal for the Red Devils was not enough.
More or less, West Ham United almost guaranteed their place in the league for the next season as well. The Hammers are 15th in the league with 37 points and 6 points ahead of Aston Villa and Bournemouth. For David Moyes’ team it was crucial that they showed a better form in the last few rounds, winning three of their last five matches.
In the previous round West Ham achieved their 10th win for the season. Moyes’ boys hosted Watford at the London Stadium and enjoyed a 3-1 win. Antonio, Soucek and Rice scored for the hosts.
This game at the Old Trafford is much more important for Manchester United than it is for West Ham. The Red Devils need to win at any cost to get closer to the Champions League. Meanwhile we are going to see one of Manchester United’s former managers David Moyes facing them again.
