La Liga – Valencia-Atletico Madrid

It’s time for another terrific La Liga fixture because on Saturday Valencia will host Atletico Madrid at the Mestalla. What can we expect from this game? Let us discuss it with you in the next few paragraphs.

For Valencia it’s going to be a tough season. Because of financial trouble the club sold some of its best players during the summer. Despite this Los Che are still managing to keep themselves in the Top 10 currently being 9th with 12 points won. Javi Gracia’s team is unbeaten in its last three matches, including against the champion Real Madrid against whom they won at the Mestalla.

Last week Valencia made their third draw for the season. Los Che paid a visit to Deportivo Alaves and it ended with a 2-2 draw at the Mendizorroza. Valencia were two goals behind, but they saved a point with goals from Manu Vallejo and Hugo Guillamon. Gameiro and Carlos Soler provided the assists.

Atletico Madrid approach this visit very close to the top. Los Colchoneros are second in the league with 20 points and they are just 3 points behind the leaders Real Sociedad. Right now Diego Simeone’s team is in amazing run of five consecutive wins in La Liga. So far they look like a very serious contender for the title.

During the week Atletico dissapointed their fans with a 0-0 draw against Lokomotiv Moscow at the Wanda Metropolitano. This was not the result they hoped for.

Atletico Madrid might be favourites against Valencia at the Mestalla, but that’s not going to be an easy ride for them. We should remind you that Valencia scored four times against Real Madrid recently, so they are a team which knows how to perform in big games like this one. At certain moments Los Che are showing impresive courage, so Atleti must be at their top game on Saturday.
