La Liga – Sevilla-Deportivo Alaves

Sevilla hosts Deportivo Alaves at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in a game from the 22th round of the Spanish La Liga.

Sevilla will play to hold their place in the Top 4. Los Rojiblancos are currently third in the standings with 38 points, but the 5th Atletico Madrid is just two points behind. The race for the Top 4 includes many teams at the moment, so the race for the Champions League is going to be intense. Teams like Getafe, Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad and Valencia are all in the mix right now.

Last week Sevilla achieved their 11th win in the league for the season. The Andalusians hosted Granada and did the work for a 2-0 win. Sevilla scored both goals before the halftime break when Luuk de Jong and Nolito put the ball behind Rui Silva.

The game against Deportivo Alaves could be a debut for one of Sevilla’s new signings. This is the forward Suso, who was signed from the Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Suso returns to Spain after stints in England and Italy.

Deportivo Alaves could improve their performance. Right now Alaves are 14th in La Liga with 23 points and a record of 6 wins, 5 draws and 10 defeats. They have won just one of their last matches – against Levante during their trip to Valencia.

In the previous round Deportivo Alaves didn’t have any luck against Villarreal, because they conceded a second goal in the 89th minute and suffered a 1-2 defeat at home. Joselu equalised for the hosts in the 80th minute, but just minutes before the end Fernando Nino scored a winner for the Yellow Submarine.

Sevilla are the favourites to take the win here against Deportivo Alaves. It’d be curious to see if Suso is going to make his debut for Los Rojiblancos. He’s a quality player, no doubt about that.
