We can hardly surprise you by saying that PSG are leaders in the league right now. The champions have 45 points and a game in hand, being 7 points ahead of the second Olympique Marseille. In their last five games in the league PSG are flawless – five wins. This provoked one of the club’s stars Neymar to say that this is the strongest PSG he has ever saw. In 18 games played so far the Parisians have 15 wins and 3 losses – no draws just yet.
In the previous round the champions hosted Amiens SC at home and celebrated a 4-1 win. Kylian Mbappe scored twice, while Neymar and Mauro Icardi also found the net behind the opposition’s goalkeeper.
Kylian Mbappe continues to fight for the Ligue 1’s golden boot, despite of his injuries. Right now Mbappe is second in the goalscoring chart with 11 goals, while Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder is a leader with 13 goals scored so far.
The visit to Paris is going to be a Ligue 1 debut for Monaco’s new manager Robert Moreno. The former manager of Spain was appointed at the position after the sacking of Leonardo Jardim. Moreno already made a debut in the Coupe de France where his team beat Reims with 2-1. Keita Balde scored both goals for Les Monegasques in Moreno’s debut.
In the Ligue 1 Monaco are currently 7th in the table with 28 points. In their last four games they won three times and made one draw, so it’s surprising that Jardim was sacked as a manager. Now it’s time to see what Robert Moreno can offfer.
