Nations League – France-Croatia
The world champions France are hosting Croatia in Paris in a game from League A’s Group 3 of the Nations League. This is replay of the 2018 World Cup final, won by Les Bleus, so that’s a good reason to expect the match with a huge interest.
It wasn’t easy, but France kicked off their Nations League campaign with a win. Les Bleus faced Sweden in Solna and Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal in the game at the end of the first half. The PSG striker put the ball in the net after a terrific solo action in the penalty area. He dribbled past two defenders and put the ball behind Robin Olsen’s back with a cheeky shot.
The game didn’t end so well for one of France’s biggest stars Antoine Griezmann, though. The Barcelona star had the chance to score a second goal in the last seconds of the match, but he missed a penalty kick. Just as we expected though, he was supported by France’s manager Didier Deschamps’ after the game.
Croatia had a pretty rough start of their Nations League campaign. The World Cup finalists faced the trophy holders Portugal in Porto, but suffered a bad 1-4 loss at the Do Dragao.
Despite that Portugal played without their biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo, Selecao dominated the entire game against the Balkan team. Bruno Petkovic scored a late goal for Croatia, but it didn’t help much.
Because of this mediocre performance, Croatia’s manager Zlatko Dalic could be making some changes. Players like Perisic, Brozovic and Petkovic entered the pitch as substitutions, while Badelj didn’t play at all. They could be starters on Tuesday.
That’s our preview for the Nations League game between France and Croatia on Tuesday. The world champions will compete for a second win since the start of the competition, while the Croats will look for their first points in the group.
