Euro 2020 – Italy-Switzerland
Italy will be chasing second consecutive win when they go head to head against Switzerland at the Olimpico on Wednesday. This is a match from Group A of the Euro 2020. Let’s preview it.
The Azzurri kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign in a brilliant way with a stunning 3-0 win over Turkey in Rome. The fans were worried because there were no goals at halftime, but everything good followed after the break. Juventus’ Merih Demiral scored himself an own goal while Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne scored two more times for the Azzurri. Italy controlled the game during the whole 90 minutes and left no doubts that they are the better team.
Now Italy’s manager Roberto Mancini hopes that his star midfielder Marco Verratti will be ready to return on the pitch. The PSG man missed the first game because of an injury. It’s still not clear if he’d be ready to play against Switzerland as well. Chelsea’s Jorginho did a good job in his absence and controlled the midfield in a masterful way.
Switzerland won a point against Wales in the first round (1-1), but they need to step up and raise their performance to have a chance against Italy. Breel Embolo scored the first goal against Wales, but the Swiss defense cracked down and conceded an equaliser.
Switzerland’s attacking trio of Breel Embolo, Haris Seferovic and Xherdan Shaqiri must do much more than the Turkish side did against the Italians few days ago. It’d be curious to see what kind of tricks the manager Vladimir Petkovic is contemplating for his colleague Roberto Mancini.
That’s the preview we can offer you for the Euro 2020 match between Italy and Switzerland at the Olimpico. Could it be another easy win for the Azzurri? Or maybe the Crusaders will do much better than Turkey few days ago?
