English Premier League – Arsenal welcomes Burnley
We’re heading to the Emirates Stadium in London where on Saturday Arsenal welcomes Burnley in their first home game for the season. Let’s take a look.
Arsenal started the new campaign with a win, although it didn’t come very easy. The Gunners had to visit Newcastle at the St. James’ Park, where they achieved a tough 1-0 win. The big hero of the day was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored the winner after an assist from Ashley Maitland-Niles.
Arsenal’s manager Unai Emery made some curious decisions regarding his starting line-up. He gave starting places to players like Joseph Willock and Reiss Nelson, leaving Lucas Torreira, Alexandre Lacazette and the new signing David Luiz on the bench. Meanwhile the summer signing Dani Ceballos made his debut, entering the pitch after the break.
Unai Emery was criticized last season for the lack of a trophy being won, but the truth is that it’s kind of a transitional phase for the Gunners. This is Emery’s second season at the Emirates, so he surely needs more time to change the team.
Meanwhile Burnley got a flying start in the Premier League. Sean Dyche’s boys hosted Southampton and crushed them with 3-0 at the Turf Moor. Ashley Barnes scored twice for the home side, while Johann Gudhmundsson added one more. Burnley’s fans can be happy with the way their favourite team performed. The last season was kind of dissapointing for Burnley, but now they will try to get back to their levels of the season before.
Arsenal are favourites at the Emirates, but Burnley are a tough opponent to crack. Sean Dyche is a manager who knows how to make his players defend well, so it won’t be easy for the Gunners’ attack. Will Alexandre Lacazette start the game this time? Let’s see what Emery is going to decide.
