Champions League – Young Boys-Valencia

We are taking our attention to Bern, where the Swiss champion Young Boys welcomes Valencia in a match from Group H of the Champions League.

Young Boys are the team which stopped Basel’s domination in the Swiss Super League. But it doesn’t mean that they are doing very well in the Champions League, of course. Right now Young Boys are 4th in Group H of the competition, having lost their first two matches – against Manchester United at home and against Juventus on the road. In these two fixtures the Swiss team was unable to score a goal and conceded 6 in the same time.

It’s nothing surprising, of course. Despite of being the new dominant force in the Switzerland, the level in the Champions League is very different. The draw sent Young Boys in a very tough group and so far they are incapable to be competitive with the other teams.

Of course, the match against Valencia is another chance for Young Boys to do better and show their worth. But the question is – can they do it? It won’t be easy against the strong Spanish side.

Valencia began their CL campaign with a home loss against Juventus, but in the second round Marcelino’s team won a point during the tough visit to Manchester United at the Old Trafford. This point gave the team some chances to fight for something more in this group. And a win against Young Boys will increase these chances. Everyone at Valencia knows this.

Valencia are not a team which is a favourite for the Champions League trophy, but the Spanish side will try to make even the impossible to reach the 1/8-finals. And now Los Che know that they must beat Young Boys in order to do this. Their motivation will be high.
