La Liga – Barcelona-Sevilla
Barcelona hosts Sevilla in the big derby of the 9th round of the Spanish La Liga. Let’s take a look at this clash at the legendary Camp Nou in Barcelona.
Barca are the champions of Spain, but they are having some difficulties lately. Los Cules are without a win in four consecutive games in La Liga. Right now Barca are third in the standings with 15 points, being on two points behind the shocking leader Deportivo Alaves.
In the previous round Barcelona made a 1-1 draw during the visit to Valencia. The point was won with a goal from Lionel Messi, who scored after an assist from Luis Suarez. Before this, Barca were unable to beat Girona, Leganes and Athletic Bilbao. It’s truly worrying what’s happening right now at Barca. If they make it five in a row without a win against Sevilla, this could be called a crisis.
Sevilla on the other hand are the team in the best form in La Liga at the moment. Los Rojiblancos are currently 2nd in the league standings with 16 points and a record of 5 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. But what’s more important is that right now Sevilla are in a run of four consecutive wins in the league – that’s better form than everyone else in the league right now.
In their last game the Andalusians enjoyed a tough, but important 2-1 win at home against Celta. It was Pablo Sarabia and Wissam Ben Yedder who scored the winning goals for Sevilla.
Clearly this is a game to watch this Saturday. This is a typical clash between team, which is not in form right now (Barcelona) against a team which is in a pretty good form at the moment (Sevilla). And this is very important match for both teams, that’s for sure.
